Question by ~~Birdy~~: What better travel destinations are there than Hawaii?

In your opinion. I just got news that I will be going on a 10 day trip to three Hawaiian islands and I’m wondering if I could top it later by some other trip (with similar amenities). Suggestions?

Wow! I wish I could book you into our condo in Kawaii! But we have already forfeited our reservation for this year! Airfare too costly!
I don’t think there is anyplace in the world more beautiful, or more romantic than Hawaii!

Question by coo dude: Is there a reputable travel agency to help me plan my trip to hawaii?

I have planned a trip with someone online and I have a good price. The problem is I don’t know if this place is legit and I don’t really have any guarantee or something like it that my trip which I promised my wife I would take her on will be as perfect as possible.

The only agency I’ve used for a trip to Hawaii was Apple Vacations. They used to offer a price guarantee. If you booked a trip with trip insurance and the price went down, you would get the lower price. They don’t do that any more and I’ve done just as well booking everything on my own since then. If you have doubts about your agency’s pricing, look at airfares and hotel rates on Travelocity. If it’s a condo, you can check for comparable condo rates at http://www.vrbo.com. You can also check http://www.tripadvisor.com for reviews of the accomodations. Room quality can vary a lot, sometimes even within the same complex if the units are individually owned. If you can get a better price without going through the travel agency and the reviews are favorable, go for it.

The Temple

The the Byodo-In Temple , a non-denominational Buddhist temple located on the island of O’ahu in Hawai’i at the Valley of the Temples.

The trees/mountains above the temple were covered with this cool foggish set of clouds that wouldn’t budge. They acted like a barrier to anything and everything else outside of the temple area.

Question by coldcity80: Are there convenience stores within walking distance of Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel in Hawaii?

My wife and I are planning a trip to Hawaii and staying at Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel (formerly ResortQuest). Are there any convenience stores within walking distance of this hotel? We will be on an “organized vacation budget” and will be looking for a Walgreen’s, for example.

right behind the hotel is an ABC store you’ll see hundreds of those in waikiki.

I am not talking about a cruise. A cruise would have me visit different cities on their schedule. I would like to take the ship there, do my own thing and then take a ship back. Is it possible?

Overall it was a good trip and a refreshing impromptu vacation for the family.

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Hawaii for our 5 year anniversary next February. We planned on first staying in Oahu for the first 4 nights and would like to fly over to Maui for the remainder of the trip. Are there flights from island to island in Hawaii? Where can we go to check that out?

i’m planning a trip to hawaii for my 21st birthday in january and am taking about 10 friends with me there surfing experience is all different from just starting out to surfing the giants. is there any place (preferably with sandy beaches) that is also close to night clubs and bars? preferably a resort on the beach.
either on the big island or maui, want to do my 21st right.

In 2006, about 3 weeks before the final u2 show in Hawaii, I had my arm twisted to go. Yes. 3 weeks. To plan a trip to Hawaii. To find tickets to the concert. To find a place to stay – as the Honolulu marathon was in town, and it was the 65th anniversary of Pearl Harbour so George W was in town, and there was a major surf competition going on up north. I didn’t even have luggage.

But I made it. I found a cheap flight, which unfortunately only gave me 3 days in Honolulu. I found a friend in a hotel with an extra bed. A friend who decided not to go arranged to get her ticket to the concert to me instead. And off I went for one of the best nights of my life.

Great show. Great company. Sorry Jeremy Piven, I didn’t mean to walk on your foot…Great friends. All around great experience.

This sticker has been in the handle area of my luggage ever since. First trip the luggage made. In four weeks I’m going to be seeing those same friends I hung out in Hawaii with. Jay, Karen, Mary, and so many others. This time it’ll be warm again, Barcelona in June. I can’t wait for the shows, and I can’t wait for the stories I’ll be telling after.

This time though, if Jeremy Piven is standing next to me, can someone please tell me before I walk over top of the man?!

Question by lrd00a: What is there to do in Hawaii? Without it getting too expensive?

I’m planning an anniversary trip to Hawaii. I want us to take surfing lessons (I like to learn something new on vacation), maybe go to the spa. What are some other things to go see/do without getting too pricey? Where to go on a day trip (we want to rent a car) and how to you go between islands?

Any advice is welcome, thank you!

On my honeymoon in Maui we did the Lanaii dolphin excursion, where they take you on a boat from Lahaina to some bomb snorkling sites off of Lanaii. They guarantee that you’ll see some dolphins, and we did. They swim alongside the boat and play in the boat’s wake. It takes up most of your day but it’s well worth it.

Aloha – you can do everything in Hawaii!! On Oahu especially!

learn to surf
snorkeling with sea turtles & tons of fish
take a whale watching cruise (winter months)
learn how to eat poi at a luau (learn how to hula too)
Visit Pearl Harbor – the Dole Plantation – Valley of Temples
View the world’s best surfing on the North Shore
Hike Diamond Head Crater – hike to one of many beautiful waterfalls
buy fresh pineapples to ship home – or a great new pareo
hang out on Waikiki Beach – maybe take a catamaran tour or ride on an outrigger canoe
There is nightlife and dining for every taste! Plate Lunch and shave ice are especially good!

I am looking for a website that will tell me about the best attractions to look for on my vacation to Hawaii. I don’t want to do tourist things. I want to do what locals do. Hence, I am looking for a website where I can read about what Hawaii locals do for fun, food that they eat, restaurants they go to, and beaches locals surf at. Please help…

Well if you don’t want to do the normal tourist stuff, you should probably stay away from the main stream sites. The smaller Hawaii forums written by local people is what you want I think.

This site is new, but I think it is what you want. You can find any random thing about Hawaii being talk about by Hawaii people. Once it gets going, this site should have a lot of stuff about Hawaii.
