Question by lizardman: Hawaii travel I would like to know what single island to go to.?

through my job I won a 5 day 4 night all expenses paid to anywhere in the U.S. 50 states we chose hawaii I would like to know what single island and hotel we should go to so we can maximize the 5 days. we like beaches, snorkeling and fishing we get a rental car also

Aloha,

I suggest the Island of Maui because the beaches are absolutely beautiful. I’ve personally never had to stay in a hotel on any of the islands because I have family on every island that is inhabitable; but I hear that the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel is really nice.

Although if you are looking for the island that you can do many things–I suggest you go to O’ahu. There is much more nightlife on O’ahu. The Hilton is a really nice hotel and it has its own village of shops and restaurants.

Pretty much all islands are nice as far as beaches go. They all have their own beauty.

No trip to Hawaii would be complete without a beach trip (I assume). Here’s a beach I visited. Note the sunshine and clean water – two things you don’t get back home.

Whar types of things did you want to do?
Some hotels offer food vouchers ask your travel agent. When we went the vouchers were 75.00 per person. They may not volunteer the info. If you are staying in Waikiki. If you rent a car you will save going to places outside the downtown Honolulu area. If you go to the Market in Waikiki for souvenirs, etc. remember they love to barter. Alot of tourists ask what something costs and they pay ir. You can get bargains in there and it is fun. My sister just went and they stayed for 7 days with three kids. Let me ask her and I will add it to my answer.

Depends on when you go and where you’re flying from. Go to one of the travel websites and input your info and see what comes up. That will give you an idea of the cost for airfare and lodging. Try Expedia, Travelocity, VacationsToGo, Orbitz, etc. Or work with a travel agent in your area.

You need to decide what you want. If you want beeches and whale-watching – Maui
If you want beeches and want to see the USS Arizona, associated museum and monument – Oahu
If what you want beeches and a less developed less populated area – Kauai
If you want beeches and see an active volcano – Hawaii

I am not talking about a cruise. A cruise would have me visit different cities on their schedule. I would like to take the ship there, do my own thing and then take a ship back. Is it possible?

Question by Roze Z: What would be less expensive, a cruise to Alaska or a trip to Hawaii?

Looking to go to either Hawaii or a cruise to Alaska. Which one’s total cost would be more expensive? I live on the east coast but have plenty of airline miles to get to the west coast. Thanks

Considering all your meals and activities are included in a cruise, I would say that’s less money. You can actually stay right on the ship (not that you would really want to) and not spend another dime, except for drinks other that soda.
Of course you would have to take into consideration the cost of tours, in both places..but to me the cruise is cheaper.
